Unleashed in the Detroit Auto Show, one of the first major events of 2019, the wait for Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 continues. Perhaps the most important secret of the car, where information about many of its features were shared at the official event held in January, is now unveiled. Clarifying during the event that the horsepower will be north of 700 horsepower as well as other technical data, Ford has also given us the news of a new pinnacle for the brand’s history.
While it is official that the 5.2-liter V8 engine used in the car is producing 760 horsepower and 847 Nm of torque, these figures are among the best in the world among superchargers. The new GT500 also brings the badge of honor for being the most powerful street-legal Ford in history.
Some of the other performance data related to the model is still not officially clarified. The details that appear in the foreign press regarding the maximum speed indicate that it will be limited at 290 km/h. In line with the last figures shared, we understand that the car delivers a little more than 100 horsepower than the Camaro. Compared to Dodge Challenger, one of its most important competitors, we can say that it is possibly closer to the Dodge Challenger Hellcat Redeye which was introduced last year. The 2020 Shelby GT500 will be available in the last quarter of this year.
